On July 2nd, 2014, they released a new song titled “One More”. Fiestar’s first mini-album BLACK LABEL was released on March 4th, 2015, with the lead track “You’re Pitiful”. After launching their first mini-album one year ago, this time, Fiestar launched their second mini-album A Delicate Sense. The mini-album was released on March 9th, 2016, with a single titled “Mirror” and they continued their last promotion by releasing a digital single titled “Apple Pie” before Fiestar finally went on hiatus for 2 years. It is common knowledge that being a K-Pop idol is risky and the income tends to be unstable. A select few who make it into a popular group can earn millions of dollars, but most groups never reach that level. One such group is Fiestar, which debuted in 2012 and is now officially disbanded. On May 15th, 2018, various sources from the industry reported that girl group Fiestar’s contract with Fave Entertainment ended on April 30th, 2018. Cao Lu was the only member in talks to renew the contract, and the rest had already left the agency. A source from Fave Entertainment confirmed the news, saying that their contracts with Linzy, Jei, Yezi, and Hye-mi ended last month, but Cao Lu still had some time left on her contract. Linzy and Jei signed with another agency to pursue acting careers, while Yezi and Hye-mi were still planning their next steps. Cao Lu’s contract with Fave Entertainment ended at the end of May 2018. Among the five members, Jei and Cao Lu, who are quite active, have made guest careers on variety shows or reality shows, such as Romantic Idol and We Got Married. Fiestar last released a single album titled “Apple Pie” in May 2016, then went on hiatus until it was announced that the group is disbanded. In one interview, the group shared sad facts about their income during their 6 years of promotions. In the interview, one of the members, Hye-mi (now known as YEL), admitted that they did not produce anything while promoting to be idols. Hye-mi admitted that their income during the 6 years of their existence was zero and it was due to the lack of income they got. “Our income is zero Won. The company costumes and props are always of high quality, but our results are not very good,” Hye-mi said. But even though they didn’t produce anything, Hye-mi is still grateful for being in an amazing agency. She praised and thanked her agency for being so understanding and all the support she got from her fans. She also mentioned that the experience of debuting with Fiestar was an invaluable income for her. “Still, it is a very good company. They always gave us pocket money, even though we had no income. When Fiestar was promoting, I still had invaluable experiences. We are not very famous, but there are still many people who remember Fiestar. I think it pays off for all the trouble we have had,” Hye-mi revealed. Hye-mi concluded by saying that the members are still on good terms and support each other. She hopes her fellow members and fans will succeed and find happiness in each other. Fiestar debuted in August 2012 as a six-member group but then continued with five members, following Cheska’s departure from the group in 2014. They released their last digital single album “Apple Pie” in May 2016 before going on a two-year hiatus. Beside that, the former member Cheska also revealed how her life was as a singer in South Korea. This story she shared through a live broadcast on her Twitch channel around early March 2020. Cheska was a member of the girl group Fiestar which debuted in 2012. However, she decided to leave in 2014, four years before Fiestar finally disbanded. She shared the reason why she talked about her past because Cheska felt this could help her overcome her fear. “I’m not talking about K-Pop because of popularity. I talk about it because I feel it can help me overcome my fear, my depression, everything I get from the industry. My experience as a K-Pop idol was really chaotic,” she said. Surprisingly, the former member Cheska said that she was bullied by her groupmates. she said that Yezi and Jei often bullied her. “We would fight for the most stupid reasons, like misunderstanding each other. So I would always be the one who comes to them and apologizes, ‘I think I misunderstood, I’m sorry’,” Cheska said. Cheska added, she was always the first to apologize while her two friends had never done the same thing. They, according to her, would act as if nothing had happened and not talk to her at all. Not only that, but Cheska also came under pressure from her agency, LOEN Entertainment. Cheska admitted that she was forced to lie by the agency about her place of birth. As many people know and the news was revealed by the media, Cheska was known to have been born in the United States. But the fact is, Cheska was born in Seoul. She only moved to Alabama when she was two years old and grew up there. The information contained in Cheska’s profile says that she was born in Alabama, USA. “The agency asked me to lie about where I was born, because they wanted me to look like an American. What’s annoying for me is that I have to lie about it (place of birth) and make my family look like I’m lying too,” she said. Before becoming a K-Pop idol, Cheska experienced the worst when she first came to South Korea. She admitted that she was sexually harassed shortly after she arrived after being cheated. “It was disgusting, as soon as I arrived in Korea, I was cheated. I didn’t want to say this, but I was raped. I thought I could never tell other people this,” she explained. Furthermore, Cheska said the perpetrator was an agency staff, but not from LOEN Entertainment. “He (the perpetrator) looks funny, I was cheated. It was the first time I came to Korea, to a different company, not LOEN,” Cheska stated. Because of that, Cheska had hated herself. However, she slowly made the terrible incident an experience that made her even stronger. “Ever since I experienced that, I feel like I can help girls who are being abused,” she said. Cheska also said that she had quite a lot to go through the dark side of K-Pop during her time as a singer. Even so, she didn’t want people to feel sorry for her because of all the things, she said, “I pretty much overlooked the negative side of K-Pop. I don’t want people to feel sorry for me or anything. I’m a strong girl, I’m a strong woman,” she said about the tough past she had to go through. Despite going through a lot of controversy and scandals in the career path of Fiestar, the members have given their best efforts to keep their career as well as possible before they were declared disbanded after 6 years of being in the middle of a girl group competition in the K-Pop industry.
