‘Let’s Eat’ Not Only to Fill Our Stomache but also Our Heart!
Known as Shiksyareul Habshida in Korean, this drama has made the drama into three seasons. Let’s Eat is airing on tvN and the genre is romance and comedy. This drama has Doo-joon as the main male character, he plays the role of Gu Dae-young in this drama. Let’s Eat (2013) This drama started airing from November 28th until March 13th for 16 episodes. Airing every Thursday 23:00 KST on tvN. This drama tells the story of 4 single people living on the same floor and bonding by eating food together. Lee Soo Kyung (Lee Soo-kyung), who is a 33-year-old woman, a divorcee after marrying way too early when she was in her 20s. She is a composed, confident woman who is happy to be living alone. But the only thing that can make her lose her cool composure is if she is near the gourmet foods. Living next door is another foodie, Goo Dae Young (Yoon Doo-joon), a single man who loves surrounding himself with gourmet food. He is an ace in describing the tastes of food. Other neighbors are Yoon Jin-yi (Yoon So-hee), a design student and former rich girl, and petty lawyer Kim Hak-moon (Shim Hyung-tak). When a strange murder occurs in their neighborhood, how will their lives be intertwined? Let’s Eat 2 (2015) Started airing on April 6th and continued to June 2nd, this drama has 2 episodes more than the previous season which is 18 episodes than can make you feel more satisfied. In season 2, Goo Dae-young (Yoon Doo-joon) becomes a slick insurance salesman and a food blogger. He moves back to his hometown, Sejong after a number of career setbacks in Seoul. He rents an apartment and apparently, his neighbor is Baek Soo-ji (Seo Hyun-jin) a freelance writer who was his old friend back when they were still elementary school students. Another main character here is an old lady who lives downstairs, Leon Jeom-yi (Kim Ji-young). This drama depicts the spicy and tasteful lives of the single dwellers in Sejong Villa, each of who has his own unique taste. This drama was aired twice a week, Mondays and Tuesdays at 23:00 KST. Let’s Eat 3 (2018) Let’s Eat 3 is the shortest season compared to the previous two seasons, it only has 14 episodes. It started airing on July 16th and ended on August 28th. There are 2 episodes per week, every Monday and Tuesday at 21:30 KST. This drama tells the life of Dae-young (Yoon Doo-joon), now in his 30s, fallen into a slump at work and his personal life. In order to heal these wounds, he visited again the food that he loved before when he was in his 20s. One day he meets his friend when he was in college, 12 years ago, Jiwoo (Baek Jin-hee). Both of them live next to each other, finally, they not only share their food together but also relieve the past memories. The Difference Among Every Let’s Eat Season
Even though the drama always revolved around ‘single-person household’ and mukbang, there are some differences in every season. Im Soo Mi, the writer of Let’s Eat series said that Goo Dae-young’s character has greatly matured in Let’s Eat 3. He started his independent life after entering college. Before this, his character in season 1 was a mysterious guy and then in season 2, we can see his character develop into a more matured and he is not even messy anymore. There is also a difference in Dae-young’s age: in every season he gets older. But what makes Let’s Eat 3 special is the time is going back and forth from 2004 when he was a college student and 2018 when he is already 34 years old. The acting in every season is always developing that’s why many people like the most recent version of the drama more than the previous season. In 2013, this drama captured the trend of “single-person household” and “mukbang”, this drama was filmed during winter, so the director wanted to fill the cold hearts of viewers by making them remember the meaning of dining together. In 2015, the drama tells a simple story about single people that are living together in a villa. They show global food from Thailand and India. Lastly, in 2018 the drama airing in summer so the drama shows more of the food that is typical during the summer, food like Cold noodles (냉면).
