She was born on 5 January 1986 and belongs to a Kashmiri family residing in Abbottabad. Sana is an all-rounder as she is a right armed bowler and left handed batswoman and wears shirt number 5. She is currently ranked 6th in ODI bowlers in the world and earned overwhelming respect during her captaincy as Pakistan won many trophies. Nick named “captain cool” of Pakistan women cricket team, she is the role model for women all around the world. Sana started playing cricket at very young age and didn’t get any formal training. Before her rise to international level, Sana used to play at domestic/state cricket from Zarai Tarqiati Bank Limited, Pakistan Cricket Board Women Greens and South Zone Women Karachi. She made her debut in ODI category on 28th december 2005 against Srilanka and T20 debut on 25th may 2009 against Ireland. She has currently played 66 ODI matches and has scored total 766 runs. Her batting average is14.18 and her top score is 49 till date. She is the first captain who led her team win at ODIs and T20s. During her captaincy, Pakistan Woman team qualified for 2012 T20 worldcup and 2013 women ODI worldcup and also beat South Africa for the first time in Pakistan women cricket team history. Sana won national championship four times consecutively and bacame most successful captain at domestic level. During her captaincy at domestic level, ZTBL won second BB tournament and 8th national championship. Sana Mir took charge of captaincy in May 2009 and before that she served as vice captain under urooj mumtaz. She has taken 41 T20 wickets after playing 41 matches and has made 324 runs in total. In February 2017 sana became the first Pakistani woman cricketer to take 100 one day international wickets. In 2010 Mir won gold medal at 2010 Asian games and opened door for 2012 T20 and 2013 women’s ODI women world cup under her captaincy. In 2013, Pakistan beat England for the first time in T20 series and won 11 matches consecutively. Sana Mir became the first woman cricketer to receive PCB Woman cricketer of the year award in 2013. Sana was awarded with Tamgha-e-imtiaz for her services in cricket on 23rd march 2012. Recently she handed over her captaincy to Bismah maroof in September 2017. Sana belongs to Kashmiri family from Abbottabad, her father is an army officer. Her age is 31 and height is 5 feet 7 inches. She began her early studies in Rawalpindi and did matric from Taxila. Sana Mir (is a former Pakistani cricketer who served as a captain of the Pakistan national women’s cricket team in ODIs and T20Is. She played in 226 international matches, including 137 of those as captain of the side. She was the first bowler for Pakistan to take 100 wickets in WODIs. In October 2018, she became the first Pakistani women cricketer to rank number 1 in ICC ODI bowler ranking. She has led Pakistan to two Gold medals in Asian Games 2010 and 2014. She was announced Player of the Tournament at the 2008 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, and currently ranks 1st in the Women’s ODI Bowlers in the ICC Player Rankings. She has been in Top 20 ICC rankings for last 9 years. During her Captaincy 8 players from Pakistan have made their way into the top 20 ICC rankings. In February 2017, during the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, she became the first Pakistan woman to take 100 wickets in WODIs. In September 2017, Bismah Maroof was made captain of Pakistan women’s ODI team, after Mir stepped down from the role. In February 2019, she became the first woman for Pakistan to play in 100 Women’s Twenty20 International matches. In November 2019, she announced that she would be taking a break from international cricket. On 25 April 2020, she announced her retirement from international cricket. She is from Abbottabad Region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa . Mir has completed her Bachelors in Statistics and Economics.
